Why Dr. Lynam

Richmond’s Only Board-Certified Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgeon

A deep plane facelift is one of the most technically demanding procedures in plastic surgery. It reaches the deep structure of the face, releases the retaining ligaments, and repositions the SMAS, work that rewards a surgeon who understands facial anatomy at the deepest level. That’s the case for Dr. Lynam.

Trained in the Face From Two Directions

Dr. Gregory T. Lynam is Richmond’s only board-certified plastic and maxillofacial surgeon. Following the European tradition of maxillofacial training, he earned both a dental degree and a medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia and completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery, years of training focused specifically on the anatomy and structure of the face and jaw. He then completed general surgery and plastic surgery training at MCV, plus a one-year cosmetic surgery fellowship under internationally respected Dr. Howard Tobin.

That combination is unusual and it matters for a facelift. The face isn’t just skin and soft tissue to Dr. Lynam. It’s bone, muscle, and structure he’s operated on from every angle, including reconstructive and facial-trauma surgery for the Richmond community. Deep plane work sits squarely in that expertise.

Your Surgery Stays in One Place

Dr. Lynam performs facelifts at the accredited Stony Point Surgery Center, near his office, with the attached Skin Rejuvenation Center for the skin-quality side of a full-face result (peels, laser, medical-grade skincare). Consultation, surgery, recovery, and skin care stay under one roof and one surgeon, not handed off.

The reason to choose a surgeon isn’t a technique on a menu. It’s judgment. Dr. Lynam reads each face region by region, names what’s actually happening (accumulation or depletion), and designs a plan balanced for your face. That philosophy is covered on The Art of the Facelift.

Facelift Videos

A little over a year ago I decided I wanted me back! I researched doctors and chose Dr. Lynam to do a facelift. I obviously had faith in him, I let him operate on my face! But, that was not all! He did such a fantastic, amazing job, I got a breast reduction in June 2013 to help with the neck and back pain I had suffered for years. To my surprise I actually could breathe better.
