Overview
How Does Botox® and Dysport Work?
Botox® works by actually paralyzing the muscle that it is injected into. It blocks chemicals that cause facial muscles to contract, thereby relaxing them. By blocking the release of a chemical that causes these muscles to contract, Botox® enables the muscles to relax. The result? A smoother, more wrinkle-free appearance.
What Areas Can I Treat?
The most common areas Botox® and Dysport are used for are the frown lines between the brows, the forehead and crows’ feet.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect?
You can expect to see results 3-5 days following your treatment. The results last between 3-4 months, depending on the size of the muscle and the amount of Botox® or Dysport injected.
What is the Treatment Like?
Both Botox® and Dysport are quick and minimally invasive. Your provider makes a few injections into the muscle at the area of treatment. No local anesthetic cream is required, although we may choose to numb the area with an ice pack prior to injection. Discomfort is minimal with these injections. The entire procedure takes 5-10 minutes. You may resume your normal activity almost immediately after your treatment.
Are There Any Side Effects?
The most common side effects from Botox® and Dysport include headache, bruising at the injection site, and temporary eyelid drooping. We take great pride as plastic surgeons and nurses in our understanding of the anatomy of the face and our ability to inject the correct muscles. There are some patients who do not respond to these injections or become less responsive over-time due to formation of antibodies.
Indication
