Cryolipolysis (CoolSculpting) is a safe and effective non-invasive procedure for reducing fat deposits in the abdomen, flanks, and thighs, with optimal results, but it does not replace traditional liposuction or weight-loss methods. This is approved by the FDA and aims to remove cells without causing damage, to nearby tissues.

The CoolSculpting procedure is:

  • FDA Cleared
  • Non Surgical
  • No Downtime
  • Targeted Fat Reduction

You may have heard that CoolSculpting is a very effective spot fat loss treatment but aren’t entirely sure how it works. CoolSculpting is different to other forms of fat loss treatment, namely liposuction, in that the fat itself is not removed from the body manually but rather the fat cells are slowly destroyed over time.

How does CoolSculpting works?

The cryolipolysis process includes using an applicator on the area with excess fat to apply controlled cooling energy that reduces the temperature of fat cells and breaks them down gradually as they crystallize and eventually die off naturally eliminated by the body through the lymphatic system over time.

Patients undergoing treatment are first provided with a gel pad on their skin to shield it from the cold before the
applicator begins to apply suction that pulls the tissue into cooling panels. The initial sensation might be a chill, however this feeling usually diminishes as the area becomes numb. The duration of each session typically ranges from 35 to 60 minutes, per area. There is generally very little or no downtime post treatment.

The picture below shows how this process works.

The thing that makes CoolSculpting such an effective treatment for fat loss is that once the fat cells have been crystalized and removed from the body, they stay gone. This means the fat layer reduces and you’re left with a flatter, more aesthetically pleasing stomach that’s free of unwanted fat. Of course retaining the results you get from CoolSculpting is dependent on a good diet and exercise regime. If you overindulge then it won’t prevent you from gaining fat in these areas in future.

Real CoolSculpting Patient Results

Benefits of CoolSculpting

Non-invasive: No need, for any procedures, like surgery or anesthesia is necessary.

Minimal Recovery Time: Patients can go back, to their routines away after receiving treatment with minimal downtime required for recovery.

Long Lasting Results: Long term Outcomes Achieved by Removing Fat Cells are Permanent, in Treated Areas.

Easy Procedure: Patients often mention feeling, at ease, throughout the procedure. The majority only feel mild discomfort.

A bit of history about the treatment

If you’re curious how it was first discovered that exposing fat cells to cold would cause them to be destroyed – it was actually by accident. Scientists at Harvard observed that toddlers who were using popsicles in order to cope with teething pain were developing dimples in their cheeks as a result. This discovery led to the development of the CoolSculpting treatment and the devices that are used in clinics today are based on this principle.

Am I a right candidate for CoolSculpting?

People who are considered fits for this procedure typically have areas of stubborn fat that do not respond to diet and exercise efforts effectively. It is meant more, for refining body shape than being a method for losing weight for those, near their desired weight goal.
